August 29 ResultsSeventy-six drivers turned out for the sixth points event of the 2010 FCSCC autocross season. The course was shaped quite differently than usual, with a large teardrop-shaped loop in the area we typically have the finish. One side of the loop had a slalom, and the other an offset. Drivers started in the usual place, drove a short slalom next to the street, then turned left to travel up the lot next to the building. An offset was followed by another left before the pump house that led to a right-hander to point the drivers to the upper corner of the lot near the river. A 180 left in the corner put the drivers into the slalom side of the teardrop, then a left-hand sweeper across the bottom, and an offset to finish the teardrop and travel through the 180 in the corner in the opposite direction. From there, drivers retraced the course in the opposite direction until turning left into the lights short of the slalom they had started the course on. The course emphasized looking ahead and car placement to set up for not the next gate, but the one after that. While many drivers had trouble finding the course early on, the off-courses diminshed as they day went on. Many drivers took advantage of the new rule for this year which allows drivers as passengers for instructional purposes in all classes. The long return trip over the same section of course reduced throughput, but event chair Pat Huxley still had things running well enough to allw six competition runs, plus plenty of fun runs. Congratulations to Lee Shelton for grabbing the Raw Fastest Time of Day after early cone trouble and a tough challenge from Todd Kean, to Justin Lau for taking PAX FTD, and to John England on getting the Rookie FTD. |

August 1 ResultsSeventy drivers competed in the fifth points event of the 2010 FCSCC autocross season, with weather that was much more pleasant than experienced during the event the previous week. Tom Bracci did a great job as Event Chair, ensuring the first car got started by 10 am, and seeing that things moved so smoothly that drivers got eight competition runs along with plenty of fun runs. Justin Lau designed a challenging course that rewarded patience and penalized drivers who did not slow down enough for the tricky sections. Congratulations to Nick Barbato for grabbing the Raw Fastest Time of Day ant the PAX FTD, and to Robert Swannie on getting the Rookie FTD after a battle with Bryan Mancuso. Said Hu was working his camera magic again, and should have pictures posted on his Flickr pages. |
